Neurology High School Scholars Program

A five-week paid internship ($1,000) for high school students but must be at least 16 years of age. Will have the opportunity to shadow physicians, neuroscientists, neurologists or take part in clinical research. Based in Philadelphia. Final contenders must have the ability to travel to and from the city at least 5 days per week. Must write two 500-word essays and obtain 2 letters of recommendations.

Albany Medical College Next-Gen Neuroscience

Free of cost and virtual. High school students ages 16 and up are eligible to apply but students local to the Albany area are given preference. Program lasts six weeks, starting from the last Monday of June to the first Friday of August. Optional in-person research opportunities. All participants will attend lectures on neuroscience topics and engage with professionals in the field. Possible acceptance into a Neuroscience Immersion track. Individuals will dedicate 20 hours a week on mentored research projects. 

sci-MI Neuroscience Mentorship Program

Free of cost and virtual. All high school students are eligible to apply. Preference is given to students underrepresented in neuroscience or without prior research experience. Applications typically close in mid-May. Program runs for five weeks, starting from June 23 until August 8. Program offers two tracks-synchronous and asynchronous. The synchronous track pairs participants up with a personal mentor and work through live sessions. The asynchronous track is individual research. Participants are required to attend journal clubs, lectures and present findings in a written paper and oral speech.

The Rockefeller Institute: Summer Neuroscience Program

Free of cost. In person program at The Rockefeller University in Manhattan. Public high schoolers ages 16 and above are eligible to apply. Program runs for two weeks in August. Applicants must be enrolled in a New York City public high school, and must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the program, and must be sophomores or juniors at the time of applying. They are particularly interested in students who are eager to engage with science but have not had opportunities to do so through their school curriculum or through extracurriculars. Up to 20 candidates will be selected.

Max Planck Institute For NeuroScience Internship

6 week paid internship based in Palm Beach/Martin County. Students work towards curating and delivering a presentation at the end of the summer. Students will work alongside scientists, create scientific abstracts, participate in histological scanning (MRI scanning), microscopy, and more. Applicants must be a high school junior or senior attending a Palm Beach or Martin County school.

Youth Neurology Education at Mass General Hospital

Full time, 40 hours a week paid internship. Interns will be required to attend a bootcamp before being assigned to a mentor from Massachusetts General Hospital to work in a lab. Interns will showcase their research findings in a presentation at the end of the summer. Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors living or studying in Massachusetts. Internship is located in the Boston area.

This journal provides an extensive collection of widely disseminating high quality research articles including, but not limited to, molecular, cellular, integrative, cognitive, clinical, and behavioral neuroscience. By maintaining transparency and fair peer review, the journal provides outlets for debates and discussions that may be difficult to find elsewhere.   

American academy of Neurology Journals

The American Academy of Neurology Journals serve as a premier platform for spreading novel publications. These journals are guided by editorial teams composed of world leading scientists and practicing neurologists. Their publications encompass a broad spectrum of high-quality research articles, reviews, and practice-changing guidelines. The AAN also offers an essential forum for clinicians dedicated to improving their own knowledge within their field. 

Nyu Langone Health Department of Neurology 

The NYU Langone Health Department of Neurology is a leading academic center dedicated to advancing the science, discussion, and practice of neurology. Its work spans a broad range of disciplines including neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, and cellular neuroscience. 

Nature Neuroscience

Nature Neuroscience is one of the most influential journals in the neuroscience fields and is known for publishing studies that illustrate the biological foundations of neurological and psychiatric conditions compared to other journals. This journal features neural circuit dynamics, synaptic mechanisms, computational neuroscience, and more.
