READ AND CARE PROJECT
The Read and Care Project (R&C) is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to advancing healthcare literacy and community outreach through accessible education and meaningful partnerships. Founded and led by Sophia Scelza, R&C bridges the gap between underserved communities and the health information they need to make informed decisions about their wellbeing. The organization collaborates with a network of partner nonprofits — including Project Helix, Neuroseed Foundation, Teen Med Spot, The Health Care Navigation Project, Beyond the Blue, and Global Aid Path — to expand its reach and deepen its impact across diverse health topics. Through curated resources, community programming, and cross-sector collaboration, R&C empowers young people and families to navigate complex healthcare systems with confidence. At its core, the Read and Care Project is driven by a belief that health literacy is a fundamental tool for equity, and that the next generation of advocates is best positioned to lead that charge.
